Waltham Forest

Worth Unlimited in Waltham Forest works with young people from marginalised communities to reach their potential.

Worth Unlimited for Waltham Forest was started in 2000 and has a strong reputation responding to the needs of young people in the borough.  We are trusted and supported by the statutory, faith-based and charity sectors and are able to work in effective partnership with all.
We work with young people and families from communities of social deprivation.  We work at building supportive lasting relationships where young people and participants feel valued.  We provide and help young people engage in positive activities, where they can develop skills and create community.

Quote from a Parent:

I want to thank you and all your team for your help and support. My son is 15 and he really likes to visit the youth club on Tuesdays at Wood Street. He has autism and struggles with eating a variety of different foods. Last week and especially today I was very surprised as my son was cooking with support and did eat the food, last week he ate pancakes with sliced bananas,  today he ate wraps with a filling which contained onions, ONIONS, WOW!!! I'm so happy as a parent,  that was a surprise!!! He never before has eaten onions and was refusing even to try. This food was new for him, and he liked it, he gave it 4 stars out of 5.  Very good!!!  It's very nice to see children coming and really enjoying spending time here, socialising and communicating, playing games together,  in this positive environment.  He loves to come to the van and spend time here, it is having a very good impact on him.
Detached Youth Work:  Our starting point for all our work is to seek to meet young people where they are at. Detached Youth work takes this very literally as our teams spend time on the streets and in the parks meeting young people on their own ground and their own terms. Through this model of youth work we can sign post young people and work directly with them in their community supporting their development and aspirations and tackling some of the issues young people regularly face when growing up.
Mobile Youth Venue Sessions:  Worth Unlimited in Waltham Forest has a youth outreach van which visits housing estates in the Borough offering sessions where young people can access information and support from trained youth workers, whilst engaging in positive activities such as cooking, games and quizzes.  The Mobile Youth Venue has a gaming area and cooking facilities.
Youth Club Sessions:  Worth Unlimited in Waltham Forest runs youth club activities and informal sports activities in various community venues around the Borough.  Sessions are run by trained youth workers who can offer information, advice, support and mentoring.
Mentoring:  Worth Unlimited in Waltham Forest supports young people on a one-to-one basis. Mentoring is an opportunity to build a relationship with another person who can be a positive and consistent role model in a young person’s life. A mentor can encourage a young person to make the right life choices, reach their potential and provide support for the young person to talk through any issues or challenges that they are facing’.
