Spark Mentoring and Counselling
Spark provides a range of counselling and mentoring services for children, young people and their families in the Epping Forest and surrounding areas. We deliver these services in primary and secondary schools and within the community. We believe in building relationships, coming alongside a young person and their family, inspiring a sense of hope together.
Impact Story:
A was referred to us by Thomas Willingale primary school when she was in her last term of year 6. She was struggling to leave her mum at the school gate and was anxious to start secondary school. A started sessions with her mentor as part of our stepping stones programme while she was at primary school and continued these sessions once she started at her secondary school. A worked through her anxieties with her mentor and was able to produce coping mechanisms and improve her confidence during this time. A found it hard to get into school and struggled to get to certain lessons when she first started secondary school. After working with her mentor during her first term at secondary school, A said that she felt braver and more confident to go to school.
What we offer
Community Counselling:
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space in which to explore your feelings with a trained professional who will listen to you and help you find ways to deal with emotional issues.
One to one counselling for age 11-23:
Our sessions last for approximately 40 minutes with a friendly, trained counsellor. You will be invited to meet us at Spark before your first appointment to ensure you receive the appropriate support.
We are pleased to be listed on the Counselling Directory.
Community mentoring:
Mentoring is an opportunity to build a relationship with another person who can be a positive and consistent role model in a young person’s life. A mentor can encourage a young person to make the right life choices and reach their potential.
