Family fun in the sun!

Sunshine, a BBQ, a bouncy castle and raising money for a great cause - what a great way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon!

On 1st July, Leyton Jubilee Park was buzzing with people and activity at a Family Fun Day, held in aid of our Waltham Forest branch.  Joy, from the local KukooLaLa Cafe, had been impressed by the youth work she'd seen happening aboard the Mobile Youth Venue and offered to host a fundraising event.

Worth Unlimited has been running the Mobile Youth Venue (Youth Bus) for the past 9 years, working with young people in communities across the borough. There are always a range of activities for young people (aged 11 to 19) on the bus, but more than that, our youth workers are there to support young people and help them develop skills.

"The opportunities young people get and the relationships they can build with our youth work staff and volunteers have changed lives."
Matt Perry, Worth Unlimited Operations Manager

The Mobile Youth Venue was at the fun day and those who came had the opportunity to have a look around and take part in activities and games. They then recharged their energy by enjoying a fantastic BBQ, followed by doughnuts, which were generously supplied by Percy Ingle bakery.

Joy, who hosted the event, explained why she wanted to support Worth Unlimited:

"It is important to give kids a place to go and feel cared for so they don't have to hang out on the street."

We were delighted that so many of the local community came along to the fun day and helped us to raise over £500. We are extremely grateful to Joy, for her support and encouragement and for making the event happen.

"There is not much for young people to do. The bus is important. Youth workers help young people with issues and confidence.”
